Long Runs and Cake Pops

This morning I had my long run that was left over from this weekend.  It was a nutty week at work, and then our tri club was at the Endurance Expo all weekend.  I was beat.  So Jen and I agreed that we would move it to Monday.  The only problem was that it meant the treadmill...and Jackson...which is an unlikely to work well for a short period of time..let alone for over an hour.

I went armed with trucks, snacks, and plenty of toys...to the basement.  As the miles ticked by, Jack found new ways to entertain himself.  The best, which took the better part of an hour was sending his matchbox cars zooming off the back of the treadmill.

Then came the cake pops!

Seven darling preschoolers making cake pops...and good thing we had two dogs to pick up the mess.  My mom had given me a cake pop maker last year...so we busted it out and went to work.  5 colors of chocolate...7 happy children.

So much fun!

100 days of FUN!

Aly celebrated her 100th day as a first grader...and got to dress up like she was 100 years old...so fun!  She is just loving school and her teacher which is great.  She is a whiz at math and that certainly does not come from me!

We thoroughly enjoyed being home in NH..although everyone came home exhausted!  It was great to catch up with cousins and spend some time with grandparents.  No one else serves chocolate fondue for afternoon snack.  We got home and the kids wanted a snack the next day and Brianna says..I wish we were in NH...me to kid.

A break from the ski slopes

A break from skiing and winter weather led to some family bowling.  Brianna led the charge with her skills and we had a great night with Aunt Brooke.   We are excited to spend some time with the cousins before we head back to PA.

Getting ready for the storm

We are bracing for a small storm here in PA...NH is getting hit much harder.  We spent the morning making soup and getting ready for a little snow.  It is funny...in PA they are much more cautious about the snow.  We are hoping that we will get a decent snow for skiing this weekend.

On the training front...I am moving along.  I am starting to feel like I am back into shape slowly but surely.  My swim fitness is there but my bike and run were missing.  Hours are slowly starting to increase and I am having to juggle kids schedules, work and training a little more.  I am having so much fun though as I start to see a little more progress!

SUPERSTARS

We hit the slopes again today and man we went HARD.  We skied from 9 until 3..and with kids 2,5,6 that is a LONG time to be on the slopes.  It was cold to start but the sun came out and we warmed up.

Aly and Bri each got a lesson and then we skied the rest of the time as a family.  It was so much fun to be out on the slopes with everyone.  Jackson was BEAT by the time we headed back to the house..a long day for a little guy.

Here is to more snow and skiing before spring hits!
