A trip to the Zoo

A little out of order, I am posting about the zoo before the triathlon.

On Monday, we traveled to the Blank Park Zoo. This is a great zoo for young kids. It takes a little over half of the day and there is a train and a playground in the middle.

Brianna is obsessed with birds. Every morning at our house she just stands out the window and says "tweet tweet" she spent the majority of her time at the zoo, loving the rainforest exhibit and the birds.

Aly liked feeding the animals in the petting zoo portion and riding the train.

Overall it was a great time and the girls were exhausted at the end of the day!

First Stop Cedar Rapids

So I did not get very far yesterday. We have just been busy. Our first stop was Cedar Rapids where we stayed with Derek and Shelby and their three girls. Five girls under 4 is a crazy house. Everyone had a blast. We spent the day playing, swinging and riding bikes.

Unlike the New England weather it has been hot and sunny here. It was really humid on Friday and I was a little nervous about the HyVee Triathlon.

Hershey Park

We arrived at Hershey with no speeding tickets and kids that were ready to get out of the car. Granted we were only 5 hours into our 17 hour trip. The girls loved Hershey! We had pack a lunch and we rode the chocolate ride.

Aly won a cupcake. She loved the chocolate and ate all of the kisses.

I am hoping to get all of pur pictures up today.

I am supposed to be packing

Instead I took pictures of Aly teaching Brianna how to jump in the "pool"

So I don't get mother of the year award.....no one got hurt I swear

19 hours and 20 minutes

Is how long we will be in the car. Do you think that we will survive without dress up clothes?

Third time is a CHARM?

This weekend was the Shelton Triathlon. After the disappointment of St. Anthony's in April, I had decided to register for the Shelton Tri when I returned.

When the swim was cancelled in FL, I knew that I wanted to complete a full triathlon this summer. The Shelton course was hard. The swim was a loop in the river, I think that I heard that the temp was just under 70 for the morning.

I was 6th out of the water for the women, I felt good and was anxious to get on my bike. The bike course is really challenging - the first 4 miles is a 1000 foot elevation climb. I thought I held my own, and felt okay. Then mile 6 I got a flat. Seriously, could it not have gone my way once.

I fixed the flat - 20 minute delay. Finished the course in 3:10. I really wanted to break 3 hours, but that did not happen.

I came home a registered for the Hy-Vee in Iowa in two weeks. So one week of hard training and then I will rest again in hopes that the third one I can make it through.

When playing with water helmets optional

We came from riding bikes to playing on the back deck. After playing for a short time nicely. Aly decided we would play spalsh.Which resulted in this.....Brianna soaked and laughing..

Which resulted in the disrobing of clothes....At least we were wearing underwearWell, some of us just wore shoesAnd then we might just be wearing nothing at all

All in all we just had a lot of fun!
